Zero gravity gaming chair: what to look for

A zero gravity gaming chair is a long-session seat that reclines to a near-flat position and spreads your weight across the whole body. Here is how to judge one, and what a cockpit-style command seat adds.

Why zero gravity

A standard gaming chair holds you upright. A zero gravity seat lets you recline until your legs rise to about chest level, so your weight is carried by the whole seat rather than by your lower back and thighs. For long gaming, flight or racing sims, editing or trading sessions, being able to change position without leaving the screen matters more than any other feature.

This guide describes seat design, not medical advice. If you have a back condition, speak to your clinician about how you sit.

What to check before you buy

1. Recline range and how it moves

Look for a powered recline that goes from upright to flat. Manual levers are fine for a desk chair; for a seat you will lie back in, a motor lets you find your angle without leaving the controls.

2. Whether the screen follows you

Most reclining chairs fail here: you lie back and the monitor stays where it was. A zero gravity gaming chair with a monitor arm keeps the display at eye line as you recline. Check how many screens the arm carries and whether it moves with the seat.

3. Frame and build

A steel frame is stiffer than a plastic shell under repeated recline. Check the load rating, the upholstery, and the warranty length before price.

4. Where the keyboard and mouse go

An integrated tray travels with the seat, so your hands stay in place at any angle. Without one, a reclined chair is hard to type or game in.

5. Size

Cockpit and XL seats are large. Measure the room, the doorway and any lift or stairs. Allow for the reclined length, not just the seated footprint.

Frequently asked questions

What is a zero gravity gaming chair?

A seat that reclines far enough for your legs to sit roughly level with your chest, spreading your weight across the whole seat. The Archon Station command seat reclines electrically from upright to flat.

Is there a zero gravity gaming chair with a monitor?

Yes. The Archon Station command seat has an overhead articulated arm for up to three screens that follows the recline, so the display stays at eye level. Monitors are not included.

What is a gaming cockpit chair?

A single-station seat that combines the chair, a screen arm and an input tray in the style of a vehicle cockpit. It suits long desk sessions, flight and racing sims, and any setup where everything should stay within reach.

How big is it?

Nominally 2,000 mm high, 1,120 mm wide and 2,100 mm long when reclined, at about 200 kg shipping weight. It is an XL seat, so measure your space first. Dimensions are confirmed against your delivered unit.

How much does a high end gaming chair like this cost?

From US$5,000. Your final price, including freight to your door, is confirmed in a private written quote before you pay.

How do I buy one, and what does the warranty cover?

Send a private enquiry. You receive a personal quote, pay a deposit to reserve your seat, and settle the balance by bank transfer once freight is confirmed. It is dispatched only after payment clears. Faulty items are covered by a two-year warranty; see the Terms of sale and Shipping & returns.
